Victory to DefeatA compelling history of the decline of an army from the triumph of victory in 1918 to defeat in 1940 and why this happened. A salutary warning for modern Britain. The British Army won a convincing series of victories between 1916 and 1918. But by 1939 the British Army was an entirely different animal. The hard won knowledge, experience and strategic vision that delivered victory after victory in the closing stages of the First World War had been lost.

A compelling history of the decline of an army from the triumph of victory in 1918 to defeat in 1940 and why this happened. A salutary warning for modern Britain.

The British Army won a convincing series of victories between 1916 and 1918. But by 1939 the British Army was an entirely different animal. The hard-won knowledge, experience and strategic vision that delivered victory after victory in the closing stages of the First World War had been lost. In the inter-war years there was plenty of talking, but very little focus on who Britain might have to fight, and how. Victory to Defeat clearly illustrates how the British Army wasn't prepared to fight a first-class European Army in 1939 for the simple reason that as a country Britain hadn't prepared itself to do so. The failure of the army's leadership led directly to its abysmal performance in Norway and France in 1940.

Victory to Defeat is a captivating history of the mismanagement of a war-winning army. It is also a stark warning that we neglect to understand who our enemy might be, and how to defeat him, at the peril of our country. The British Army is now to be cut to its smallest size since 1714. Are we, this book asks, repeating the same mistakes again?

Works great.
Color: Silver, Style: 1-Pack
I have to edit my review: the mouse itself is still working fine, I happened to get a bad batch of Kirkland batteries! I changed out the batteries with a different brand and the mouse is working perfectly!! Didn't last very long, have only had it 3 1/2 months and it has stopped working.

Fantastic keyboard
I did a lot of research before choosing this keyboard, and man am I glad I got it! The split is great, very comfortable. The arch is minimal, but it does the job. I also really like this scissor-switch technology, no more backspacing to fix a key that didn't register the first time! The built-in wrist rest is also really nice. I type a lot for work, and at a rate of 55 WPM. The keyboard gives just the right amount of feedback, and the keys are not mushy at all. It's also a very good looking keyboard, and is very responsive. I have heard some people mention (not just on this keyboard) that they have some lag/delay with their typing. I would bet the farm that they have plugged the receiver into a USB hub. If you're going to do that, then get yourself a USB extension cable, because the hub will cause interference with ANY wireless dongle you plug into it. Just a foot or so of distance from the hub will alleviate that. I found that out with my prior Logitech keyboard, after lots of searching around for what the cause could be. The ONLY thing I would improve is fairly minor: It does not have dedicated keys for Page Up/Down, Home, or End. You need to hold down the function key and use the corresponding arrow key for those functions. Not even remotely a deal breaker, this keyboard is fantastic in every other aspect.
